This book examines the legislation relating to aircraft hijackings and other forms of the unlawful acts described, placing each type of offence in the context of contemporary criminal and penal files that the authors studied during their research. It traces the development of airport security at airports operating in the territory, as well as the evolution of inspection procedures initially carried out by airport staff and later by members of the Czechoslovak security forces. The authors also describe hijackings caused by shortcomings in the work or poor coordination of the bodies responsible for the protection and security of passenger aircraft, including the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Czechoslovak Airlines.
