THE NAVY DURING THE BOXER REBELLION IN CHINA IN 1900 In this uniquely comprehensive journalistic account, we primarily focus on the role of the military navies of the allies in suppressing one of the largest uprisings in China from 1889 to 1901 (the only larger uprising was the Taiping Rebellion from 1854 to 1860). We briefly discuss the causes of the uprising, but then delve into the lesser-known, remarkable details regarding the powers' preparations for intervention on the western coast of the Yellow Sea. We pay significant attention to Admiral Seymour's rescue expedition aimed at the legation quarter in Beijing, which was threatened with annihilation by the 'Boxer' hordes. We detail the capture of the fortress system at Dagu on the Yellow Sea coast, the liberation of Tianjin, and the conclusion of the narrative consists of a detailed account of the allies' capture of Beijing and the defeat of the 'Boxers'... Furthermore, no extensive journalistic work on the 'Boxer' uprising has yet been published in our country, which is certainly why our contribution on this topic generates considerable interest among readers.
