As a boy, I admired airplanes and their pilots, and I really wanted to fly too. This wish came true, and I became a pilot. There were hundreds of us, but not everyone flew for as long, and many did not have to deal with dramatic situations in flight throughout their careers, but I had several. I flew for thirty-five years, starting in a flying club on the ŠK-38 glider and ending as a test pilot for aircraft repairs on the MiG-21. The following lines describe how I started flying in the flying club and how flying was conducted in the fighter aviation from 1950 to 1985.
