Beschreibung
"The Compendium of the Catechism, in its brevity, clarity, and completeness, addresses every person who, in a fragmented world overwhelmed by a multitude of information, longs to know the Way, the Life, and the Truth that God entrusted to the Church in His Son." (Benedict XVI.) The Compendium closely follows the official Catechism of the Catholic Church from 1997. It briefly summarizes the fundamental truths of the Catholic faith and morality contained in the Catechism, continually referencing it and encouraging its reading. Here, we also find the main common prayers and basic formulations of the Church's teaching. The simple question-and-answer format encountered in the Compendium is not meant to lead to a stagnation of faith. Rather, it provides us with firmer ground to open ourselves to the "height and depth" of the Gospel and to live a truly free life. It also helps to deal with prejudices about the Church and what it "allegedly" teaches. The Catechism and the Compendium are essential resources for all Christians. They make a suitable gift for those receiving the sacrament of confirmation, so they can spread the light of Christ's love and the Church's teaching in the strength of the Spirit.
