Saying goodbye to the deceased, entrusting them to God, pleading for God's mercy for them, and professing hope in the resurrection of the dead are elements that have remained constant in Christian funerals for centuries. However, changing social conditions require adjustments to selected prayers and ritual elements to truthfully express the joy and hope, sadness and anxiety of people in our time. Therefore, the Liturgical Commission of the Czech Bishops' Conference has prepared this Supplement to the funeral rites, which contains prayers for the final farewell in special situations. The funeral rites (1999, ref. no. 476/99, reissued in 2020, ref. no. 387/2020) remain in effect.
