Beschreibung

Aleš Opatrný is known as a prolific author of spiritual books, a "companion" and confessor, as well as a speaker at (not only) charismatic conferences. However, few know the full story of his life. In a book interview with Tomáš Kutilek, he offers a glimpse into his private life, background, and opinions. We learn about the family he comes from, how he sought faith and his place in the world, what rowing and factory work meant to him, and how he came to the priesthood. In individual chapters, we follow his beginnings in Plzeň, his "exile" in Toužim, and the time when he was not allowed to serve as a priest. Completely new opportunities opened up for him after the Velvet Revolution when he embarked on a series of activities. A slowing down and a new breath of life then came with his later academic career. However, Aleš Opatrný does not only comment on his life’s vicissitudes. He also addresses issues of marriage and intergenerational relationships, as well as ecumenical cooperation. The narrative symbolically ends at Vyšehrad – there he looked out from the Vltava as a rower, there he lives today, and there people come to him from all over the country.
