Beschreibung

"What is there to fear when you are righteous?" On April 29, 1960, an incredible life story of the brave and courageous priest Bohuslav Burian comes to a close in the prison in Mírov. A man who escaped death several times, defied hatred throughout his life, and showed everyone the way to freedom and to God. He wanted to become a missionary, but the times were against him. He went through several concentration camps. In Auschwitz, he narrowly escaped the gas chamber, in the quarry in Golleschau he barely avoided being shot, and he escaped from a death march. After the communists came to power in 1948, he stood against the restriction of freedom and read a banned pastoral letter in Zelný trh in Brno. He was imprisoned and, after his release, emigrated. He helped refugees in Innsbruck and himself smuggled the persecuted across the borders. After being arrested in the Russian zone in Austria, he was extradited to Czechoslovakia, brutally tortured, and sentenced to 20 years. He experienced the hell of Jáchymov, and after escaping from the Leopoldov fortress, he was tortured and died as a result of complete exhaustion. Despite his suffering, he always radiated humor and devoted himself with incredible energy to people on the margins of society.
