In Baltimore, the 1970s are being written. Fourteen-year-old Mary Jane enjoys cooking with her mother, singing in the church choir, and relishing the selection of the best Broadway musicals that her family subscribes to. As the summer goes on, Mary Jane introduces her new household to pressed clothes and regular dinners, and in return, she gets a ticket into the liberal world of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll (not to mention group therapy). Caught between the lifestyle she knew and the future she is just now...
