My Skills Tree is a modern tool for student self-assessment. It allows students to navigate the curriculum and educational goals and track their progress throughout the school year. The ability to realize WHAT the student is learning, HOW they are doing, WHAT they want to achieve, and simultaneously assess whether they have succeeded represents an effective way to increase their engagement and joy in learning. The sheet contains established educational goals in four subjects – mathematics, Czech, English, and general studies – that a third grader should master. In addition, it includes goals related to relationships and emotions, such as behavior towards classmates and teachers or supporting collaboration in the classroom. The components of the sheet are blank leaves of trees representing the four seasons, which serve for ongoing assessment of achieved goals. As the student gradually masters individual skills and achieves set goals, they color in the corresponding icon. The teacher can also provide each student with feedback on whether they have truly mastered the skill.
