Paměti – Harpman Jacqueline (2020)

The book was born out of a lack of sources on the history of two families, the Stránský and Malypetr families. The first family represents a branch of the extensive tree of knights Stránský from Stránka and Greifenfels. In the person of JUDr. Karel Stránský (1898–1978), the author's father, it represents a man with a deep social sense not only for his family but also for the public, thanks to his membership and higher position in the Czech Sokol community, where spirit, loyalty, physical strength, and not money, prevailed. The Malypetr family, led by Jan Malypetr, a multiple minister and chairman of the government during the pre-war and crisis years of the First Czechoslovak Republic, initially lived in the fertile land of Klobuky near Slaný. The farming couple gave life to three children, one of whom became the wife of JUDr. Stránský and later the mother of the author. He decided to write his Memoirs, among other reasons, to pass on the testimony of his two older brothers, Jan and Jiří, political prisoners who, despite their literary talent, did not write their memoirs. The book describes the family's plight under the communist regime and the impact of circumstances on its members.
