Zborov 1917-2017 – Mojžíš Milan (2019)

The Battle of Zborov is the most significant engagement of Czechoslovak legionnaires in World War I. This lavish publication presents all available information, divided into three parts. The first part consists of a description of the situation in Russia in 1917, the development of Czechoslovak units, and the battle of Zborov itself, as well as the subsequent retreat from Tarnopol from the perspective of contemporary authors. The second part provides information about maintaining the Zborov tradition and the preparations and course of the grand celebrations of the centenary of this significant event, culminating in the unveiling of the reconstructed Brotherhood Mound – the common grave of fallen legionnaires in Ukraine. The third part then presents the battle in the memories of direct participants and its analysis from the period of the First Republic, and is also supplemented with profiles of the commanders of the Czechoslovak brigade and reconstructions of the appearance of the involved soldiers. Everything is complemented by over 350 period photographs and documents and more than 250 images from the celebrations.
