Československé legie 1914-1920 - Katalog k výstavám Československé obce legionářské – Mojžíš Milan (2017)

The publication offers a unique visual and illustrated overview of the struggle for Czechoslovak national independence from 1914 to 1920. The text not only details the formation, development, functioning, and battles of the Czechoslovak legions in Russia, France, and Italy, as well as the service of Czechoslovak soldiers in the Allied armies, but also the outbreak of the war, the situation in the Czech lands, developments on the battlefields, negotiations of Czechoslovak politicians with the Allies, significant personalities, and the return to the liberated homeland followed by the struggle for Slovakia and Těšínsko. The extensive book is equipped with over 500 period photographs, various materials, maps, and plans. The publication is based on a series of traveling panel exhibitions of the LEGIE 100 project of the Czechoslovak Legionary Community, which is implemented with the support of the Government of the Czech Republic and in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic and a number of other institutions, associations, and local governments from 2014 to 2020. The aim of the project is to commemorate the decisive merits of Czechoslovak legionaries in the establishment of an independent Czechoslovak state on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of significant milestones in the struggle for our independence and to restore the legionary traditions to the awareness of the Czech public. This publication should also contribute to that.
