The publication contains a commented text of Act No. 359/1999 Coll., on the Social and Legal Protection of Children, including amendments effective from January 1, May 1, July 1, and October 1, 2025, January 1, 2026, January 1, 2027, and January 1, 2028, and together with a number of thematically related international treaties and laws, forms a comprehensive set of legal regulations in the area of social and legal protection of children.

It takes into account all legislative changes since the last edition.
This is already the fourth updated edition of this publication, which reflects not only the changes made by Act No. 242/2024 Coll., which come into effect gradually starting from January 1, 2025. This extensive amendment brings changes related to the regulation of adoption and foster care mediation, the introduction of voluntary support for foster families, and linking the entitlement to foster care remuneration to a concluded agreement on the performance of foster care, an increase in the state contribution for the performance of foster care, the inclusion of a person to whom a child has been entrusted under § 953 of the Civil Code among caregivers, thereby ensuring support in the form of foster care benefits and accompaniment, and the regulation of issuing authorizations for providing social and legal protection by authorized persons within the scope of defining the activities that authorized persons can…
