Beschreibung
This book, whose contents are in Czech, addresses the question of why anyone should believe in Christianity in an age of scepticism. Society places deep faith in empirical reason, historical progress and heartfelt emotion, making it easy to ask why anyone should need religion at all. Timothy Keller challenges the mistaken idea that secularism and human progress will cause religion to disappear, arguing that religion is more important than many people think. He examines how belief in individual freedom, human rights and equality sits uneasily with the idea that human beings became what they are through the survival of the fittest. Keller explains why belief in God is reasonable and why Christianity makes the greatest sense, offering a book intended for both believers and sceptics. In a troubled world, the book argues, God gives greater meaning not only to faith in the Christian God but also to human existence itself.
