The triumphalism stemming from Trump's victory in the Czech public debate contrasted with a negative to dismissive reaction. The Václav Klaus Institute also awaited the outcome of the American presidential elections with tension. However, this was not because we had unrealistic expectations associated with Donald Trump and were waiting for him to miraculously solve all the problems of the Western world. We sought to define ourselves against both of these extreme positions in the public debate and to introduce a positive, yet realistic and restrained tone. In this spirit, the essays of the authors of the book 'Trump's Return: What Can We Expect?' are also written, to which Václav Klaus, Jiří Weigl, Ivo Strejček, Filip Šebesta, Ladislav Jakl, Jan Zahradil, and Ondřej Hejma contributed their texts.
