Jiří Weigl, with this publication, follows up on his previous book Without Illusions About the World Around Us (Fragment, Prague 2014) after seven years, which covered a long fifteen-year period from 1999 to 2014. Today's book contains his texts from the last six years. It consists of 55 texts – dense, clear, intellectually rich, and pointed. The author puts himself on the line. These are not concessions to contemporary taste; rather the opposite. Jiří Weigl stands firm, regardless of which way the wind blows. The key to the book is – as the author himself says – not only the content of the texts but also their very selection. This reflects the main themes of today's world – the Western 'cultural' revolution, Greta, Brexit, Russia, China, the European Commission's migration plan, COVID, and many others.
