Beschreibung
The coronavirus crisis, which has affected the entire world including our country, is a fundamental phenomenon not only from a medical or epidemiological perspective, but it is also a factor that changes – and will especially change – social and economic conditions for a very long time. The problem is by no means just the halt of economic life that occurred after the spread of the infection. Much worse appears to be the governments' approaches to reviving the halted economy. From their approach, it seems as if long-respected economic principles have suddenly ceased to apply – sustainable public finances, controlled debt, as well as inflation and currency stability. The economic aspects of the coronavirus crisis, which are the subject of this publication, are considered by IVK to be very serious, and today's economic policy is deemed irresponsible. In a series of four texts that make up Part A of this collection, a team of authors led by Václav Klaus thoroughly analyzes this situation and positions itself against today's government policy. Part B presents additional articles on this topic by Václav Klaus, Jiří Weigl, and Filip Šebesta. In Part C, we provide readers with responses from a broader group of contacted personalities regarding government budget policy.
