Beschreibung
Women's underground poetry is not uniform and certainly not programmatic. It is characterized by strong diversity, and although it often deals with similar themes and motifs, it finds inspiration in blues, prayer, and the aesthetics of ugliness. The most inherent common feature of the texts remains the female perspective, based on the personal experiences of poetesses as lovers, mothers, cleaners, exiles, but above all members of the underground community.
The presented anthology brings the works of both well-known and forgotten poetesses, as captured by the samizdat production of the normalization years. Among the selected poems, you will find both lesser-known and emblematic texts from a total of eleven authors: Naděždy Plíškové, Věry Jirousové, Jiřiny Zemanové, Ivanky Hyblerové, Dáši Vokaté, Michaely Takové, Markéty Hrbkové, Anny Wágnerové, Lenky Marečkové, Michaely Němcové Antalíkové, Anny Lemonové. The anthology is supplemented by period photographs, a critical apparatus, and a scholarly study.
