Beschreibung
The term "yoga" has many traditional meanings. In Ayurveda, the medical science of India, yoga refers to the "proper use" and "proper combinations" of herbs. Special combinations designed to have a particular effect on the body or mind are thus called "yoga." This coordinated or integrated use of herbs is based on ancient Ayurvedic teachings about active herbs (herbal energetics). In this system, the properties and potential of herbs are determined according to natural laws, allowing herbs to be used objectively and specifically according to individual conditions. Yogic use of herbs presupposes such harmonious utilization of the effects of herbs. In this book, Ayurvedic teachings about herbs are applied for the first time to Western herbs, as well as to several major Eastern herbs, both Indian and Chinese. The purpose of the book is not to present Ayurveda as something foreign or ancient, but to make it a practically applicable method of herbal healing.
