Beschreibung
Pavla Jonssonová's book features twenty interviews with leading Czech female musicians, united by their affiliation with the Czech alternative music scene. The author seeks to uncover answers to questions such as: Why are there so few girl bands? Where do most talented girls disappear to? Is women's creativity different from men's? What interesting and new contributions do women bring to music creation? How do they address classic questions related to music production? Was there a Czech response to the American riot grrrls movement of the 1990s? The interviews explore their personal histories, creative methods, opinions on the situation of women in music and life in general, and how spirituality influences their work. They reveal the interconnectedness and kinship of both musical and human aspects among the participants. Respondents include Zuzana Fuksová, Monika Načeva, Beáta Hlavenková, Mary C, Eliška Kohoutová, Marka Míková, Vladivojna La Chia, Stinka, Katka Šarközi, Dagmar Andrtová, Mucha, Marka Kovářová, Iva Bittová, Eva Turnová, Kristýna Skalická, Iva Bittová, Radůza, Lenka Dusilová, Pavla Milcová, Gaia Mesiah (Katka Pelíšková Morella), and Jana Tóthová, with the final interview conducted by music journalist Petr Ferenc directly with the author.
