The monograph provides an analysis of the legal regulation of appeals in criminal proceedings. In the first part, the author generally characterizes legal remedies in criminal proceedings, analyzes the basic principles and legal concepts of appellate proceedings, and discusses their application. The development of the legal regulation of appeals in the territory of the Czech Republic from the end of World War II to the present is also addressed. The focus of the monograph lies in the analysis of the current legal regulation in Czech criminal proceedings. A comparison of appeals with the German and Slovak legal regulations is included. The author also compares the current legal regulation with the regulation of appellate proceedings contained in the draft of the new Criminal Code. The book is intended for the professional public, especially lawyers in practice, as well as for law students as a source of knowledge for studying procedural criminal law.
