The first volume of the textbook on substantive civil law explains the general part of the law of obligations and contractual obligations law. The theoretically oriented interpretation does not shy away from practical questions and takes into account the latest developments in doctrine, case law, and recent changes in legislation. The first part of the publication explains the basic terminology, functions, and principles on which the law of obligations is based. It clarifies the systematics of classifying obligations, the legal reasons for their emergence, and the content of obligations. Following the explanation of key concepts such as debt, performance, and receivable, there is a section dealing with their creation, extinction, and changes, the issues of securing and affirming debts, or joint debts and receivables. This part concludes with an explanation of the statute of limitations and preclusion of rights from obligations. The second part comprehensively describes contract law. It explains the concept of a contract, its forms, and the individual phases of the process of concluding it. A separate chapter is dedicated to contracts for future contracts and other preparatory contracts. This is followed by an extensive discussion on consumer contracts, which addresses all changes made by the major amendment effective from January 2023.
