The book focuses on the recognition of individuals in criminal proceedings, which represents a complex and multidisciplinary issue that is very demanding and procedurally fragile in terms of proper implementation. Foreign research demonstrates how dangerous and even fatal a minor error can become for innocent individuals if they come under the scrutiny of law enforcement agencies as potential perpetrators. The monograph aims for a comprehensive critical analysis of the recognition procedure not only from a criminal-tactical and criminal law perspective but also from a psychological and forensic standpoint. The author presents a number of suggestions to increase the accuracy and reliability of recognition procedures, deliberately not shying away from controversial issues. For example, he advocates for the explicit incorporation of empty recognition into the criminal procedure code and delves into a detailed comparison of mutually contradictory foreign studies comparing simultaneous, sequential, elimination, or wildcard recognition procedures, with possible consequences for our legal system. The planned recodification of procedural criminal law and suggestions for conducting recognition procedures using the latest IT technologies are also not overlooked.
