The collection of contributions prepared for the conference, which did not take place in 2020 or 2021 due to the pandemic, addresses the issue of liability for damages from various perspectives and in different branches of law. It is a classic institute; however, this publication shows that not everything is straightforward and that new problems continue to emerge that need to be addressed. After all, the pandemic itself, with its consequences threatening the fulfillment of contractual relationships or the impacts of government restrictions and the assessment of attributability of damage caused not by the perpetrator but in the interest of all, is just one example of issues that remain unresolved by law or judicial practice in the conditions of our current civilization. Moreover, the solution is by no means as clear-cut as we might have assumed until such a situation arose. The issue of liability for damages, however, is gaining additional dimensions in the contemporary world in connection with the development of digital technologies. The question arises regarding the independent operation of property entities without an ownership subject with attributable liability for damages or the questions of liability for the actions of human creations with autonomous artificial intelligence.
