The second updated edition of the comprehensive university textbook on copyright and related rights was compiled by a team of renowned experts from universities and practical application. They present a systematic explanation of the individual institutes of this legal field, which has recently been gaining increasing importance. The new edition primarily responds to the development of EU regulations, represented by the so-called directive on copyright and related rights in the digital single market. This directive is to be implemented into the Czech legal system by June 7, 2021. Until then, it is essential to cultivate knowledge of its content so that its harmonization in the Czech Copyright Act or the Civil Code can be better understood. The textbook introduces engaging histories of copyright and related rights in the Czech lands and around the world. It follows with an explanation of the concept of copyright and its individual institutes – copyright works and their types, the personal and economic rights of the author, and licensing agreements. The authors thoroughly address all methods of copyright protection – civil, administrative, and criminal law protection.
