The monograph provides a detailed overview of the most important legal norms and institutions of the European Union in the field of criminal law. In the second edition, the authors respond to the development of European Union law and to new institutes that the legal regulation introduces or specifies (e.g., the project of a European public prosecutor has taken on concrete forms since the first edition). The introduction addresses general questions: the placement of criminal law norms within the system of European Union law, the historical development of the process of the Europeanization of criminal law, the impact of the Lisbon Treaty on this process, and the relationship between European criminal law norms and the protection of human rights. The second part is dedicated to issues of substantive EU criminal law, specifically to various types of crime that are subject to criminal regulation within European law. The authors analyze the legal status addressing such actions in the Czech Republic in individual chapters and confront it with EU law norms. This part also includes a new chapter on the criminal liability of legal entities. The next section focuses on EU procedural criminal law.
