Twenty-five years of existence places the Czech Constitution among the longer-lasting and seemingly stabilized ones. Nevertheless, we still find that there are many things that remain unclear, and especially some politicians can continually surprise us with their "creative" and "emancipated" interpretations. Therefore, it cannot be said that the Constitution is already sufficiently "settled"; its grammatical wording is shaped by interpretative and applicative practice, and essentially nothing can surprise us anymore. On the contrary, we can encounter constitutional issues almost every day, the interpretation of which is not straightforward. This is why it is important and good that the expert community regularly expresses its views on where the boundary lies between creativity and arbitrariness, between intellectual invention and stretching the given rules to the point of their actual denial, what constitutes innocent play and what already poses a threat to the foundations of constitutionality. Whether the opinions of experts will be sufficiently taken into account by the political world is, of course, another matter. However, what is important is that these opinions are well-known, and anyone who does not respect them should at least strive to engage with them in a fair argumentative manner.
