Beschreibung
The twelfth volume of Battles and Fates of Warriors covers the period of the Napoleonic Wars, not from Napoleon's perspective, but through the struggles and life paths of his main opponents. They are arranged in such a way that they actually follow the wars with the Emperor of the French from his first grand victories to his ultimate defeat. It begins with the initial victorious triumphs of Arthur Wellesley, the future Duke of Wellington, in India, continues through Kutuzov's defeat at Austerlitz, Blücher's loss at Auerstedt, and Napoleon's indecisive clash with the Russian Bennigsen at Preussisch Eylau.
We will follow the life story of Austrian Archduke Charles and Napoleon's first defeat at Aspern, Wellesley's victory in the Peninsular War, Napoleon's invasion of Russia from the perspectives of Barclay de Tolly and Kutuzov, the victories of the anti-Napoleonic coalition under the command of Prince Schwarzenberg in 1813 and 1814, and the book concludes with the Battle of Waterloo from both Blücher's and Wellington's viewpoints.
