Beschreibung
In October 1813, Napoleon's army clashed with four armies of the anti-Napoleonic coalition led by Prince Schwarzenberg, and the battles near Leipzig lasted six days, with a prelude and a one-day break. Around 600,000 men with 2,000 cannons faced each other, and approximately 90,000 soldiers were killed, wounded, or disappeared without a trace. The combatants included the French, Austrians, many of whom were soldiers from the Czech lands, Russians, Prussians, Saxons, Württembergers, and other soldiers from German lands, Swedes, Spaniards, Italians, Belgians, Dutch, Swiss, British, and others, which is why the clash was named the Battle of Nations. After this, Napoleonic Europe collapsed, but hundreds of testimonies and memories remained, forming the basis of this book.
