The book American Breakfast is an unconventional travelogue of an adventurer from the Podkrkonoší region, who set off in the footsteps of the gold rush and Jack London to the far North. The narrative has two plot lines: the author's own journey through the Chilkoot Pass with just a backpack and snowshoes, and a canoe trip down the Yukon to Dawson, alongside events from the original gold rush, supplemented with interesting and previously unknown information for Czech readers from that time. The book was first published on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Alaska-Yukon gold rush.
