Beschreibung

The two-day confrontation in the northeastern area of the North Sea, known to the British as the Battle of Jutland and to the Germans as the Battle of Skagerrak, took place in the last days of May 1916 and became, until the battles in the Pacific during World War II, the largest clash of surface warships of all time. The strategic goal of the German side was to weaken the Royal Navy to such an extent that the forces of both sides would be balanced, allowing Imperial Germany to have a chance to dominate the North Sea, penetrate into the Atlantic, and seriously threaten the English shores. However, the battle occurred without the German side wishing for it. The strategic intention was not fulfilled, although tactically the battle can be considered a German victory. Jutland/Skagerrak is an epic story of the clash between the Home Fleet and the Hochseeflotte, full of unexpected twists, about the duel between two great admirals, Scheer and Jellicoe, which comes to life through many memories of those who experienced the greatest naval clash of World War I. It is a drama full of bravery, self-sacrifice, suffering, and determination to win.
