Beschreibung
Eight interviews by the emeritus editor-in-chief of Divadelní noviny, Jan Kolář, with prominent figures in our theater scene were conducted between 2010 and 2021. Each name is a concept. Arnošt Goldflam, Jan Klusák, Pavel Kohout, Milan Lasica, Jaroslav Malina, Bolek Polívka, Petr Skoumal, and Jiří Suchý – their life and artistic journeys also reflect the paths of Czech and Slovak culture and society in recent years. Unfortunately, three of the interviewees are no longer with us, but all the interviews remain relevant, some perhaps even timeless. CONTENT: Introduction * Arnošt Goldflam: The Absolute Does Not Exist * Jan Klusák: The Happiest Man in the World * Pavel Kohout: Why Austrians Walk Slowly and Czechs Quickly * Milan Lasica: I Don't Belong to the Disappointed * Jaroslav Malina: I Do Not Intend to Expel Old Ladies from the Theater * Bolek Polívka: Being on Stage is the Greatness of Presence * Petr Skoumal: I Have Always Enjoyed Starting Over and Being in Uncertainty * Jiří Suchý: When I Envy Someone, I Honestly Wish Them Well * Index.
