The Kučer family was famous. Unimaginably so. You won't find much about them in encyclopedias, theorists struggle to understand them, but listeners loved and still love them. Recordings of the Vocal-Instrumental Group of Václav Kučera could be found in almost every household in their time, and their concerts attracted tens of thousands of spectators. For example, in Poland, they performed 94 sold-out shows in just one month. They experienced packed stadiums of enthusiastic listeners and had hundreds of thousands of records sold. The group was founded shortly after World War II in 1946 by Václav and Marta Kučera, initially performing mainly in variety shows and circuses, but soon they were also recording albums and collaborating with the traveling duo Hanzelka & Zikmund. In the 1950s, they became a phenomenon. In Jiří Vlastník's book, you will find more than half a century of the group's history, learn about significant personalities and key events from the rich and intricate history of this music group, along with period visual documentation and discography.
