Beschreibung
Prose writer Božena Benešová (1873—1936) belonged in her youth to the friendly circle of Růžena Svobodová and F. X. Šalda, but her works did not follow in the footsteps of the Art Nouveau neo-romantic works of Svobodová. From the beginning, she was inclined towards dense, factual expression and thoughtful construction. The Czech Library is preparing a collection of her prose, which includes two books of short stories from her first creative period, Unconquered Victories (1910) and Mice (1916). These works are complemented by the author's last and most famous prose, Don Pablo, Don Pedro and Věra Lukášová (1936). The collections of short stories were edited and commented on by Zuzana Jürgens Dětáková, and the novella was prepared and commented on by Marie Havránková.
