Beschreibung
A young Czech teacher arrives to teach local children how to read and write. They teach him how to start a fire in the stove with corn husks. Stray dogs, trampled mulberries, blooming goldenrods, the distant roar of the Danube. And gradually, memories come flooding back, as if things were happening again: years spent in the gymnastics hall, the theater stage, studies in Germany, the solitude of various coasts and journeys. The faces of people, fleeting moments of closeness. Young author Matěj Hořava presents a meditative, autobiographically inclined, and stylistically distinctive prose. In short, dense chapters written in vivid language, he circles around significant life events and seemingly fleeting feelings that, for some reason, one remembers until death: a certain angle of light, the gaze of a woman who will or will not be his, the howl of a wolf on the hillside. Before the reader, a peculiar youth gradually takes shape, a unique way of existence.
