The renowned American artist, who was Bob Dylan's first girlfriend from 1961 to 1964 and had a strong influence on his music during that period, describes in her book the difficult childhood of the 1950s, the time spent with Dylan and other personalities of folk music in the bohemian neighborhood of Greenwich Village, as well as the birth of the club scene, Dylan's artistic ferment of that time, the twists and turns in the creation of many of his world-famous songs, and the making and recording of an album famous, among other things, for the photograph of the budding songwriter and his then-girlfriend. The book is a fundamental contribution to understanding the foundations of the history of the American folk movement, in which alongside the most famous Dylan also figures Dave Van Ronk, Joan Baez, Ian and Sylvia Tyson, and others. It is supplemented with a name and title index, as well as a rich photographic appendix.
