The book offers the reader an excursion into Europe of the penultimate century, a time when European modernity was being born. The authors, through an analysis of the very concept of 'Europe', its politics, culture, religion, and other phenomena of the 19th century, show how much of our thinking is influenced by the era in which Europe became the dominant continent. The developments and ideas of that time laid the foundation for the establishment of institutions and organizations that still influence our daily lives, our perceptions, behaviors, and dreams.
