During the occupation of Czechoslovakia from 1938 to 1945, many of our citizens left to fight for their homeland abroad. More than ten thousand of them served in the United Kingdom during World War II. They were primarily pilots, paratroopers, and members of an armored brigade who participated in military operations such as the Battle of Britain or the Siege of Dunkirk. Some of them achieved unprecedented successes. Libor Sečka, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, initiated a project in 2020 called "Never Forgotten," aimed at honoring the memory of soldiers who died on the territory of the United Kingdom during World War II. He visited 107 cemeteries where the remains of 311 Czechoslovak soldiers are buried, as well as 18 military memorials, totaling 125 memorial sites. At each location, he laid a red rose as a sign of respect for the deceased and gratitude. He described and summarized his journey in a book titled British Stages. Each stop includes photographs capturing the atmosphere of the visited places, documenting the author's pilgrimage. The entire project was dedicated to two anniversaries: 75 years since the end of World War II and 80 years since the arrival...
