Sir Roger Scruton (1944–2020), a British conservative philosopher, aesthetician, political scientist, writer, and musician, is well-known in Czech circles, not only for his numerous books. He was a great friend of our country – even during the time of communism, he organized secret educational seminars in private homes, and after 1989, he helped with the transition from totalitarianism to democracy, particularly in the field of higher education. The book of interviews conducted with him by writer Mark Dooley provides a detailed and intimate account of his personal and professional life and presents this remarkable man in a new light. The introduction to the Czech edition was written by Petr Pithart.
