Beschreibung
Two plays by a significant Austrian playwright, two perspectives on bourgeois society. Tales from the Vienna Woods offer a glimpse into the seemingly idyllic life in the city on the Danube, where charming Strauss waltzes play, revealing the cruel fate of a young girl who falls in love and must painfully confront the harsh morality of Viennese society in the 1930s. Love and death and the melody of the waltz, with the rise of Nazism looming in the background. The Unknown from the Seine is also a story of a young girl who is not coddled by society. It is inspired by the contemporary discovery of the body of a drowned girl with a mysterious smile on her face. Both plays are published as the 183rd volume of the D edition in a translation by J. Stach.
