Dr. Stockmann, a doctor in a spa town, discovers that the healing water is contaminated and poses a threat to the health of patients. He firmly stands by his findings, which are confirmed by laboratory results. However, he does not anticipate how his discovery and strong stance will stir up life in the town. The interests of different groups of residents and representatives of the community and the spa clash. The changing attitudes of the 'independent press' also play a role. Ibsen's view of a world where even democracy does not guarantee that the truth will prevail against private interests is ruthless.
