Jack Holloway is a lone wolf. Hundreds of miles from the local ZaraCorp headquarters, 178 light-years from the corporation's headquarters on Earth, he operates as an independent contractor. As for his past, the skeletons are well hidden in the closet. During an accidental cliff collapse that occurs during a test blast, Jack discovers a vein of rare gemstones, which he claims rights to while ZaraCorp cancels his contract for causing the cliff's collapse. Jack suddenly finds himself in the spotlight, forcing ZaraCorp to acknowledge his share and recognize him as a partner... and ZaraCorp will stop at nothing to exploit the deposit.
