Retroperspektiva – Snětivý Josef Pepson (2013)

Miloň Čepelka said about the author's second collection: "Josef Pepson Snětivý is happy and productive in his frequent solitude; it is a joy to read him, a joy to share every mood, every insight, every amusement with him. Four twelve-member Blues and within them four sonnets, here and there a limerick, a few haikus, a little anecdote or epigram alongside serious contemplation, all with a sense of self-irony and a playful command of language and precise thinking. Pay attention: the puberty of cherries, the shabby chimney that has long been a non-smoker, August, the collaborator with autumn, and how comets are tailed in the darkened sky. Don't overlook the theory of the big bang, be careful with the sunscreen, and then search for yourself. Pepson's poems turn reality inside out and upside down, do not shy away from provocation and evaluation ("Sabina's Faithful Reporting" and "we do not resist, thus cleverly spoiling the joy for the victors"), and they will force you to verify certain claims. For example, is it true that "the darker the night, the more visible the white smoke"? I believe not, but if it is the smoke "rising from our bodies," it is undoubtedly a poetic truth.
