Selected works of Jiří Němec from a span of more than fifteen years are united by the theme of human freedom. The question of free action, its prerequisites, and consequences was considered by the author to be the most important throughout his life. The collection maintains the chronology of the texts' creation, allowing for the observation of the forms and development of Němec's thinking in an as-yet-unknown entirety. The title Drama of Human Freedom refers to a place in the study Implications of Freedom, in which J. Němec writes about a life turnaround accompanied by the assumption of responsibility. ***** This collection does not replace the published collected works, and thus does not publish all texts from the mentioned period, nor all texts in which the author addressed the theme of freedom. The purpose of the collection is to present the author's life theme in basic outlines at a time when not only is there a renewed interest in his philosophical, psychotherapeutic, and culturally-socially oriented work, but also when the questions raised by Jiří Němec and like-minded thinkers gain new relevance.
