Beschreibung
The volume contains three books by Přemysl Blažíček (1932–2002), written in the 1980s and 1990s and published in 1991 (Hašek's Švejk) and 1992 (The Epicness and Naivety of Holeček's Naši and Škvorecký's Zbabělci). The summary into one volume is based on the chronology of the creation of all three works and the fact that they are monographs about novelistic works (hence the collective title Books on Epic). The edition follows the publishing and typographic style of the collection of Blažíček's journalistic studies and articles Critique and Interpretation (2002) and primarily the joint publication of the author's books on poets, written in the 1960s and 1970s, Self-awareness of Poetry and The Poetry of Karel Toman (Books on Poetry, 2011). The three-part project, which is concluded by this volume, thus brings together the author's complete works under unified publishing care, representing a unique interpretative effort in Czech literary science.
