Beschreibung
A novel by a contemporary author (born 1948). - The novel about Don Quixote was written by Cervantes, while Borges wrote the story Pierre Menard, Author of Quixote. Nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because of this, the manuscript by Ivan Matoušek, who was inspired by these two writers in different ways and accompanied it with his own drawings, is an unmistakable creation. In a fictional summary, Matoušek conveys not only what resonates with him in Quixote but also what he considers to be enduring, immutable, and unsurpassable literary values. Even in his realistic drawings, he attempts to express vague, rather sensed connections with the text, or in other words, he illustrates how certain adventures endure for centuries, how they are true anywhere. The book is further proof that Don Quixote is still alive, something Cervantes was already aware of, even though he did not wish it. Matoušek attempts, in a somewhat unusual way, to express that for some of us, a literary character can be closer and more comprehensible in their feelings and thoughts than many people in reality.
