In the eighteenth anthology of the Association of Teachers of Czech as a Foreign Language (AUČCJ), we present readers with a selection of contributions presented at four regular AUČCJ meetings held throughout 2023. The speakers were teachers of Czech as a foreign or second language, as well as instructors of other languages, linguists, and experts from various fields. The anthology introduces readers to newly published textbooks of Czech for foreigners and new projects in the field through introductory contributions. Other contributions focus on new forms of teaching, such as language teaching over the phone, language mentoring, or teaching with the help of artificial intelligence. Two contributions capture the creation and process of language exams for adults, specifically certified exams and the Language and Reality Exam for the purposes of granting Czech citizenship. Both contributions summarize essential information for anyone preparing for such exams or preparing their students for them. The final part of the anthology consists of contributions focusing on Czech as a foreign language with a specialization. In addition to a general reflection on the specifics of specialized Czech, the reader will be introduced in more detail to the practice of teaching business, medical, and legal Czech.
