Beschreibung
The hero and narrator of the novel A Slight Loss of Loneliness is a Jewish boy who survives a concentration camp and a death march and returns to his native Prague on the brink of his mental and physical strength. However, it is May 1945, and people are joyfully celebrating the end of the war, making the return of shadows from the past seem out of place in this time filled with optimism. The search for lost family, friends, and love leads the hero on an unexpectedly difficult journey, where he must come to terms with his traumas, anxieties, and distrust of the surrounding world. He discovers that the war has left indelible scars not only within him – the post-war world is irrevocably changing, and nothing of what he dreamed of in captivity will be easy or entirely as he imagined... This evocative and gripping narrative from a dark period of history is not just another story about the Holocaust, but it addresses the subsequent time and events about which not much has been written. The book is also a historically accurate document, written based on true events.
