Beschreibung
The biography Life with the Indians of Three Americas is the first book guide to the fate and work of the famous Czech ethnographer, museologist, traveler, and writer Václav Šolc (1919–1995). It presents key moments of his life: his youth, domestic and foreign studies, Latin American and Asian travels, field research among the Aymara, Mapuche, and Alakaluf Indian tribes, ethnographic work at the Náprstek Museum, including Šolc's role as director. At the same time, it aims to bring closer and briefly evaluate the literary work of Václav Šolc, whether it concerns professional, popular-scientific, translated works, or fiction for children and youth. The biography is published on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Václav Šolc's birth.
