Beschreibung
Jan Hábl's book is loosely inspired by the famous work The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis, which the author respectfully recalls while adapting it to today's reality. In the spirit of the original format, the old tempter conveys his malicious advice to a younger apprentice – and through this devilish correspondence, a sharp, at times bitterly humorous, and at other times chillingly truthful mirror of the modern human soul opens before us. The author does not aim to imitate the classic but to use its framework to reveal his own doubts, failures, and searches. What tempts humans today? What distorts, destroys, and diverts them from the truth? And is it still possible to prevail? The result is a text that does not shy away from naming modern temptations, deceptions, and the twists of the human mind. Wisely and with irony, it reveals how insidiously evil operates today – unobtrusively, elegantly, often precisely where we do not notice it. The author does not claim to have answers but shares his own inner struggles and societal observations in a literary form that is clever, fresh, and chillingly relevant.
